Around 10 of these 22 million originated exclusively from European funds, such as Digital Europe of the Horizon program, while 7 million arrived from private sources.

Thanks to this investment, DATAlife has set more than 27 digital transformation projects in motion, organized 70 events about disruptive digital technologies and given presentations in another 100 events in which they presented the Hub and Galicia’s capabilities as the best innovative hub in Spain. In total, DATAlife‘s initiatives have reached more than 5.000 entities.

Since its inception in 2019, the Digital Innovation Hub has gathered associates from several sectors which provide DATAlife the support it needs to reach its goals. Hence, their board of directors highlights itself, formed by Pablo Álvarez Freire (Zendal) as the president; Sebastián Pantoja (Televés) as vicepresident; Carme Pampín (Bioga) in the treasury position; Luis Pérez Freire (Gradiant) as the secretary; and as speakers, Roberto C. Alonso (Anfaco-Cecopesca); Rocío Mosquera (Clúster Saúde de Galicia) and Gumersindo Feijoo (Universidade de Santiago de Compostela).

Creation of Sionlla Biotech and the CSIEB

Trough the support of the Consellería de Economía, Industria e Innovación, DATAlife has been designated a collaborative entity by the Xunta in several announcements. What’s more, it has supported the construction of Sionlla Biotech and the Centro de Servicios Innovadores para Empresas Biotecnológicas (CSIEB) in Santiago, which will act as a catalyzer for the creation of startups and the attraction of intensive R&D&i tractor companies.

In 2022, it succesfully closed the Hub Iberia Agrotech (HIBA) project, which attracted almost half a million euros to Galicia in order to boost a multi regional ecosystem focused on the digitalization of the agrifoods sector.

On the other hand, it also highlights the creation of a digitalization and advanced technologies demolab, in the Centro de Investigación Forestal of Lourizán, which allows for the identification and monitorization of trees in real time, in one of the experimental plots of land of the center.

European reference

Another of DATAlife‘s successes was their selection as the European Digital Innovation hub (EDIH) in 2022, becoming the only Galician Hub to receive economic support from the European Commission (EC).

Hence, DATAlife receives 2 million euros, equivalent to cascade financing for SMEs, who will be able to receive 100% financed services trough the PADIH program. This way, it can offer services of up to 60.000€, among these being training, pilot tests, digitalization programs or mentoring for tech startups, among others.

DATAlife indicates that they are closing this quarter “with remarkable numbers, and it will begin the year of 2024 with new projects in order to move forward, together with the Galician entities, towards a more digital future”.
