Vigo. October 30th 2025. Nine Galician biotech startups and initiatives are being presented today to representatives of 22 investment entities, funds and institutional investors at BioInvestor Days, the main investment forum in life sciences in Galicia, organized by the Business Technology Cluster of Life Sciences (Bioga) and the Vigo Free Zone Consortium with the collaboration of EDIH DATAlife (European Digital Innovation Hub of Galicia), and which has taken place on October 29 and 30, 2025 at the headquarters of the Vigo Free Zone Consortium.
The nine selected companies and initiatives, which have high growth potential and are seeking funding to launch or boost their projects, are requesting financing ranging from €50,000 to €2.5 million. The combined funding needs of the nine companies total approximately €7 million.
The BioInvestor Days are a meeting point for startups and a network of specialized investors, funds, corporations, and financial institutions. This forum is the culmination of the BioInvestor Program, a prior training program for entrepreneurial projects in the sector, and is part of the IberoBio project, co-financed by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) under the Interreg VI Spain-Portugal program (POCTEP) 2021-2027.
The event began on Wednesday, October 29, with an official welcome address by the President of Bioga, José Manuel López Vilariño; Patricia Fraga, Coordinator of the Health, Care, and Biotechnology Area at EDIH DATAlife; and David Regades, Special State Delegate to the Vigo Free Trade Zone. This was followed by individual presentations and roundtables designed to facilitate networking among investment funds, organizations, and projects.
Today, Thursday, October 30, 2025, the projects selected for the 11th BioInvestor Program will be presented to a network of specialized investors (venture capital firms, business angels, family offices, corporations, and financial institutions). Networking activities, B2B meetings, and connection sessions between ecosystem stakeholders are also planned.
Investing in talent
The Special State Delegate to the Vigo Free Trade Zone, David Regades, highlighted “the Consortium’s strong support for this sector, which offers innovative solutions for health, food, and the environment, among other areas, contributing to sustainable economic growth and strategic autonomy. These are the reasons why the Free Trade Zone is actively participating for the third time in an Interreg project, collaborating with Bioga and other stakeholders to strengthen the biotechnology sector.” For his part, José Manuel López Vilariño, president of Bioga, explained that “from the heart of the biotechnology ecosystem, we aim to promote and boost productive investment in our sector in Galicia.
