From July 9 to 11, more than 300 experts, researchers and leading companies will meet in the capital of Malaga to address the challenges and opportunities of one of the sectors with the greatest scientific and economic projection during the Annual Biotechnology Congress.
The city of Málaga will host the 18th Annual Biotechnology Congress, BAC Málaga 2025, on July 9, 10, and 11, solidifying its position as one of the most important meeting points on the national scientific scene. The event, organized by the Spanish Federation of Biotechnologists (FEBiotec) and the Association of Biotechnologists of Andalusia (AsBAn), in collaboration with the University of Málaga, will bring together leading figures in research, innovation, and business at a crucial time for the sector’s development.
The official opening of the event will be attended by national and regional political representatives who will kick off a series of events characterized by scientific innovation, collaboration between professionals and networking, as well as offering specialized training for researchers, professionals and students in the field of biotechnology.
“Last year, more than 300 people participated in the Annual Biotechnology Congress. This year, Malaga is consolidating its position as a leading center committed to scientific advancement and the debate on the future of biotechnology in Spain,” says Adrián Macías de la Rosa, president of AsBAn and general coordinator of BAC Malaga 2025.
The congress will feature renowned figures such as Margarita del Val, a researcher at the Spanish National Research Council (CSIC) and one of the most recognized voices during the COVID-19 pandemic; Dr. Ginés Morata, an internationally acclaimed geneticist, winner of the Prince of Asturias Award in 2007, and a member of the Royal Society of the United Kingdom. They will be joined by leading biotechnology companies, such as PharmaMar, Roche, Syngenta, and Vaxdyn, which will share their latest advances and demonstrate how scientific innovation translates into real solutions with an impact on health, the environment, and food.
“This congress is not just an annual event, it is a driving force for diverse generations dedicated to biotechnology and committed to the transformation of the country through knowledge,” declares Carlos García Rodríguez, general coordinator of BAC Málaga 2025.
The event will offer a comprehensive experience combining science, training, and professional networking. For three days, attendees will enjoy top-level scientific presentations, hands-on workshops, specialized courses, networking opportunities with companies, and personalized mentoring sessions. In addition, there will be technical visits, research presentations, and social activities designed to foster interaction and collaboration among researchers, students, professionals, and representatives of the national biotechnology sector.
