CEAMSA, based in O Porriño, will present its international incubator CEAMBOOST at the V International FoodTech Forum, which is already looking for startups that develop innovative solutions with natural ingredients.
The companies GalChimia, based in Touro; and Orixe Salgada, from Boiro, are also exploring new opportunities and business avenues in Brazil.
Santiago. June 5th, 2025. The Galician Life Sciences Business Technology Cluster (Bioga), representing the Galician biotechnology ecosystem, is exploring opportunities in Brazil to strengthen cooperation in food innovation and biotechnology, while also exploring new avenues for collaboration in these areas. A Bioga delegation will visit Brazil from June 2nd to 6th, 2025, for business development purposes. Specifically, they will travel to the cities of São Paulo and Campinas, key innovation hubs in Latin America.
Bioga will attend the V International FoodTech Forum, where it will present the biotechnology and life sciences ecosystem to leading players in the food and biotechnology sectors. The event, organized by the FoodTech Hub Latam, brings together key stakeholders in these fields. It will feature prominent companies such as Unilever, Danone, dsm-firmenich, Foodvalley, Nestlé, Bühler, and Novonesis, among others.
CEAMSA, based in O Porriño (Pontevedra), is accompanying Bioga on this trip to Brazil to present its incubator, CEAMBOOST, a strategic platform designed to boost innovative projects in the field of functional and healthy foods. CEAMSA is in the process of launching its global incubation program for international startups developing innovative solutions with natural ingredients, which it will lead through CEAMBOOST. It is seeking projects in the pre-commercial or early industrial stages. Applications are open until July 11, 2025. The incubation phase will begin in September 2025. The company, chaired by Íñigo Alzueta, also aims to establish contacts and explore collaboration opportunities with key players in the Brazilian food R&D ecosystem.
The trip, supported by the Galician Institute for Economic Promotion (Igape) through the Galicia Exports Intermediary Organizations program, also includes strategic meetings and visits to leading organizations such as the Tropical Food Innovation Lab, located in Campinas; PWC Agtech Innovation; and the Brazilian Association of Food Industries (ABIA), key organizations in the innovative development of the food sector in Brazil. They will also meet with and visit Sindusfarma and the Brazilian Institute of Health Innovation (IBIS).
Bioga will also represent the Galician companies GalChimia, a leading European firm in chemical synthesis based in the Touro Business Park (A Coruña), and Orixe Salgada, a company based in Boiro (A Coruña) specializing in transforming Atlantic algae into natural biostimulants, on this business prospecting mission. The Cluster will identify collaboration opportunities, explore business avenues, and facilitate strategic contacts to enhance the positioning of these companies.
Brazil, driven by policies such as the National Bioeconomy Strategy and the National Plan for Alternative Proteins, is an emerging leader in food innovation and biotechnology. Its agri-food sector represents 25% of its GDP and employs 20% of its active population. It is a priority market for Galicia in its internationalization process and the opening of new markets.
