Bioga signs a collaboration agreement with BioM, one of Europe’s most influential clusters, to open new avenues of cooperation between the life sciences ecosystems of Galicia and Bavaria
BFlow, ChemoSapiens, GalChimia, Linknovate and Herrero & Asociados showcased the strength of Galicia’s biotechnology ecosystem and established new contacts to generate business opportunities in the biotech sector
Munich (Germany), 2 July 2026. Galicia took part in BayOConnect 2026, held in the German city of Munich on June 30th and 1st of July. The event is an international networking and business forum focused on biotechnology and life sciences, bringing together innovators, researchers, start-ups, investors and industry leaders. Alongside Austria, Galicia was one of the two Partner Regions of BayOConnect 2026, an event organised by BioM Biotech Cluster Development GmbH. As an invited bioregion, Galicia had a dedicated presence in the official programme, its own exhibition space and a prominent role throughout the event agenda.
The Business Technology Cluster for the Life Sciences (Bioga) led Galicia’s participation in BayOConnect 2026. The Galician delegation included the following companies: BFlow, based in Santiago de Compostela and specialised in organ-on-chip technology for biomedical research and preclinical development; ChemoSapiens, the digital platform for the efficient management and procurement of chemical compounds, also headquartered in Santiago de Compostela; GalChimia, located at the Touro Business Park (A Coruña), a leading company in chemical synthesis and support for drug discovery programmes; Linknovate, also based in Santiago de Compostela and specialised in artificial intelligence applied to technology intelligence, scientific scouting and trend analysis; and Herrero & Asociados, a leading intellectual and industrial property firm with an office in the city of A Coruña.
Showcasing the ecosystem’s capabilities
Together with Bioga, the five companies shared an exhibition space at Stand 17 of BayOConnect 2026, serving as a meeting point for potential partners, investors and organisations interested in learning more about the capabilities of Galicia’s biotechnology ecosystem. What were these companies aiming to achieve? Daniel Álvarez, Head of International Development at Bioga, explains: “The companies representing Galicia’s biotech sector came to Munich to strengthen international partnerships, generate new business opportunities, explore new investment models and mechanisms, and showcase Galicia’s potential as a leading life sciences ecosystem.”
During BayOConnect 2026, Bioga and BioM signed a collaboration agreement, establishing a structured framework for cooperation with one of Europe’s most influential life sciences clusters, representing more than 500 biopharmaceutical companies and two universities of excellence. According to Bioga, this agreement “reinforces Galicia’s commitment to embedding its biotechnology sector within international networks of excellence.”
Galicia’s participation in BayOConnect 2026 comes at a time when its biotechnology sector has reached a significant level of maturity. The region is home to 1,700 innovative companies, three universities and more than 40 research centres. These assets are complemented by strategic infrastructures such as Europe’s only AI Factory specialising in One Health, promoted by CESGA through the 1HealthAI initiative.
Institutional agenda and international outreach
The institutional programme began on Tuesday, 29 June 2026, with a visit to the IZB Martinsried Innovation Campus, recognised as one of Europe’s leading biotechnology hubs. Organised jointly with BioM, the programme included an introduction to Munich’s life sciences ecosystem, presentations by the Galician and Austrian delegations, and a session on innovation trends in Bavaria featuring the Munich Medicine Alliance (M1). The Galician delegation then toured the IZB campus, visited the Munich Accelerator Life Sciences & Medicine (MAxL), and met with the companies Ethris GmbH and Eisbach Bio GmbH, before concluding the day with an informal networking session. Bioga and the participating Galician biotech companies attended these working meetings alongside the BioM team, gaining first-hand insight into the dynamics of Bavaria’s life sciences ecosystem.
One of the highlights took place on Wednesday, 30 June 2026, during the Evening Impulse by Partner Country Austria & Region Galicia, a session exclusively dedicated to the two invited regions, Galicia and Austria. On this occasion, Daniel Álvarez delivered the presentation “Driving Spain’s Life Sciences Innovation from Galicia” (www.bayoconnect.org/program), through which Bioga positioned Galicia before the international audience, presenting the region’s value proposition and the role it is playing in transforming biomedical innovation across Spain and Europe. Austria, as the other invited partner region, shared the spotlight during this session, providing the Galician delegation with an opportunity to strengthen relationships with some of the most relevant organisations within Austria’s biotechnology ecosystem.
