“We are attending BioSpain 2025 because Galicia wants to be a protagonist in the biotechnological revolution,” says the president of Bioga from Barcelona.

BARCELONA. 09/10/2025. A select delegation from the Galician biotechnology sector, led by the Galician Regional Government (Xunta de Galicia) and headed by the Galician Innovation Agency (Axencia Galega de Innovación), along with the Business Technology Cluster of Life Sciences (Bioga), is attending BioSpain 2025, one of the leading biotech events in Europe, held in Barcelona from October 7 to 9, 2025. BioSpain 2025 is the largest biotechnology event organized by the Spanish Association of Bio-Companies (AseBio) in Europe and one of the largest in the world in terms of one-to-one meetings and participating companies.

The Galicia Bio delegation, comprised of around fifty companies and institutions and approximately one hundred people, is presenting Galicia as a “leading hub in biotechnology” and supporting and raising the profile of the companies and entities that make up the Galician biotechnology ecosystem. “We are attending BioSpain 2025, where the world’s leading biotechnology players are present, to showcase the innovative drive of the Galician bioregion in recent years, analyze and explore strategic alliances for our innovative projects, and solidify new business avenues,” emphasizes Bioga’s president, José Manuel López Vilariño. At BioSpain 2025, Bioga will encourage Galician biotech companies to “establish contacts with companies in the sector and national and international institutions.”

BioSpain 2025, under the theme “Global Crossroads, Local Vibrations,” has programmed 60 sessions addressing the latest advances in genomics, gene editing (CRISPR), cancer therapies and immunotherapies, as well as synthetic biology. It will also explore the impact of Artificial Intelligence on clinical research, biotechnology applied to regenerative agriculture, and the European regulatory context regarding new genomic techniques and pharmaceutical legislation. “Our partners are key players in the current biotechnological revolution; and that is why we are at forums like this one, where cutting-edge advances in the science sector are discussed, where we want to be protagonists and which will allow us to continue growing,” emphasizes the president of Bioga.

Galicia Delegation

An institutional delegation attends BioSpain 2025 under the Galicia Bio brand, which is made up of the Xunta de Galicia, Axencia Galega de Innovación, Axencia de Coñecemento en Saúde (ACIS), Sergas, associated foundations (CINBIO, CIQUS, CIMUS and Kaertor Foundation), and the three biomedical foundations: Galician Health Research Foundation of Santiago de Compostela (IDIS), Galician Biomedical Research Foundation of A Coruña (INIBIC) and the Galicia Sur Biomedical Research Foundation.

The Galician biotech delegation is present in the Galicia Bio Pavilion, where the partners of the Business Technological Cluster of Life Sciences are represented. BioSpain 2025 is one of the leading congresses in Europe. This year’s event brings together more than 2,200 attendees from nearly 1,000 companies across 34 countries, and over 5,000 one-on-one meetings are planned. This edition emphasizes the role of the biotechnology sector as a driver of the new healthcare model, positioning it as a key element in achieving strategic autonomy for Spain and Europe in areas such as the economy, health, sustainable food, and the green industrial transition. The goal of BioSpain 2025 is to promote innovation, investment, collaboration, and new business opportunities.
