This <strong>move reflects the potential the company sees in Galicia\u2019s biotechnology ecosystem,<\/strong> a region renowned for its scientific innovation and business development. The company\u2019s <strong><em>Galicianization<\/em> was also influenced by the investment in June 2023 from Semola Tech Ventures<\/strong>, a fund led by <strong>Santi Dom\u00ednguez, Javier Sardina, and Carlos Cobas<\/strong>\u2014the three individuals behind <a href=\"https:\/\/mestrelab.com\/\"><strong>Mestrelab<\/strong><\/a>, a leading company in the sector.<\/p>\n<p>Nowture defines itself as a <em><strong>venture builder<\/strong><\/em>, which is something like <strong>a startup factory that helps develop, grow, or consolidate entrepreneurial projects<\/strong>, mostly startups originating from the university environment. \u201c<strong>We create real, efficient, and successful companies, bringing innovation to patients<\/strong>\u201c, they say.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Nowture<\/strong>\u2018s integration into the local ecosystem of Santiago, alongside key players such as the <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.elcorreogallego.es\/tags\/bioga\/\">Bioga cluster<\/a><\/strong>, the Galician universities (<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.elcorreogallego.es\/tags\/usc\/\">USC<\/a>, UDC, and UVigo<\/strong>) with their research centers, and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.elcorreogallego.es\/galicia\/2022\/06\/06\/zendal-semola-amazon-gallego-quimica-109696040.html\">Semola Technology Ventures<\/a> as a strategic partner, is enabling the development of cutting-edge scientific projects and their continuation as businesses. Through these synergies, Nowture is positioning itself as a <strong>bridge between academia and industry<\/strong>, aiming to bring innovative advances from the laboratory to the patient, thus contributing to the growth of the life sciences sector in Galicia.<\/p>\n<p>According to Nowture,<strong> its mission focuses on promoting the transfer of knowledge and technology to improve quality of life.<\/strong> This approach seeks to consolidate the Galician biotechnology ecosystem as an \u201cinternational benchmark,\u201d generating innovative projects with a high clinical and social impact, they point out.<\/p>\n<p>In this context,<strong> Nowture is promoting the creation of new biotechnology companies based in Galicia,<\/strong> strengthening the local business network and<strong> generating skilled employment<\/strong> in the region. To support the development and growth of these companies, Nowture will establish a strategic collaboration with the <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.elcorreogallego.es\/tags\/biopolo-a-sionlla\/\">A Sionlla Biopole<\/a><\/strong>, a key project in providing facilities and resources tailored to the growth needs of new ventures.<\/p>\n<h6 class=\"ft-helper-spacer-t-xs ft-helper-fontSize-heading-S\" style=\"text-align: justify;\">A strategic relocation<\/h6>\n<p class=\"ft-text\" style=\"text-align: justify;\">The move to Santiago is the result of work begun more than a year ago and represents a milestone in Nowture\u2019s trajectory, consolidating its commitment to the Galician biotechnology sector and reaffirming its purpose of contributing to the well-being of society through innovation in life sciences, its statement reads.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ft-text\" style=\"text-align: justify;\">This move not only confirms their commitment to Galicia, but also reinforces their vision of the region as an \u201cinternational hub for biotechnology and technology transfer.\u201d The potential is there: the scientific quality provided by Galician academic institutions and<strong> the institutional support of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.elcorreogallego.es\/tags\/xunta-de-galicia\/\">Xunta<\/a> (Galician government) through agencies such as Igape and Gain.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Although it is currently based in <strong>R\u00faa do Vilar<\/strong>, one of the possibilities being considered is that Nowture will eventually move to the <strong>research center that <a href=\"https:\/\/www.elcorreogallego.es\/economia\/2024\/11\/09\/mestrelab-conectara-puntero-centro-investigacion-111523750.html\">Mestrelab<\/a> inaugurated at the end of last year.<\/strong><\/p>\n<h6 class=\"ft-helper-spacer-t-xs ft-helper-fontSize-heading-S\" style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cGalicia is a leader in science and deserves to have companies there.\u201d<\/h6>\n<p class=\"ft-text\" style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Mario Grande<\/strong>, founding partner of Nowture, yesterday justified the company\u2019s relocation and its strategic commitment to the region. \u201c<strong>Galicia offers a truly unique combination for creating highly competitive businesses in the life sciences<\/strong>,\u201d he stated. \u201cThe Galician government\u2019s commitment to the sector and the quality of its universities, combined with Galicia\u2019s attractiveness as a region in terms of quality of life and talent availability, offer an opportunity that, in our view, justifies this relocation of our business, perfectly aligned with these objectives and philosophy.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">According to Grande, <strong>Galician science is \u201ccutting-edge,<\/strong>\u201d so this territory \u201c<strong>deserves to have leading companies in this sector<\/strong>, which will transform its economy and the lives of patients,\u201d he stated.<\/p>\n<p><strong>The co-founder of Nowture admits that they have been working in Galicia for four or five years<\/strong>, where they have already <strong>founded two companies<\/strong>, one spun off from the University of Santiago de Compostela (USC) and the other linked to the <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.elcorreogallego.es\/tags\/chus\/\">University Clinical Hospital of Santiago (CHUS)<\/a><\/strong>.
