BARCELONA, October 7, 2025. The biotechnology ecosystem showcased its full innovative, research, and industrial potential at Galicia Bio Event 2025, an event organized by the Life Sciences Business Technology Cluster (Bioga) in collaboration with the Association of Galician Businesspeople in Catalonia (AEGA-CAT) and with the support of the Galicia Bio delegation, headed by the Galician Innovation Agency. Bioga took advantage of the BioSpain event, held in Barcelona from October 7 to 9, 2025, to highlight and raise awareness of its biotechnology capabilities.<\/p>\n
More than 150 stakeholders from the public and private sectors of the Galician biotechnology industry, as well as from the rest of Spain and around the world, met yesterday, October 6, 2025, at the Eurostars Grand Marina Hotel in Barcelona’s Ciutat Vella (Old City). \u201cGalicia Bio Event 2025, taking advantage of the BioSpain event, which brings together key players in global biotechnology, allows us to showcase our biotechnological potential and present Galicia’s capabilities as an innovative bioregion to the world,\u201d highlighted Jos\u00e9 Manuel L\u00f3pez Vilari\u00f1o, president of Bioga, who added that Galicia Bio Event \u201cis a leading meeting point that attracts more and more professionals from the biotech sector with each edition.\u201d<\/p>\n
Galicia Bio Event 2025 also aims to “promote business collaboration.” “We are here to present the potential of the ecosystem linked to the life sciences to the biotechnology world,” added Jos\u00e9 Manuel L\u00f3pez Vilari\u00f1o, who emphasized that “Galicia is connected with other leading bioregions.”<\/p>\n
The opening of Galicia Bio Event 2025 began at 6:00 p.m. with an institutional welcome from a representative of the Association of Galician Businesspeople in Catalonia; Jos\u00e9 Manuel L\u00f3pez Vilari\u00f1o, president of Bioga; Carmen Cotelo, director of the Galician Innovation Agency; and Marta Parente, a member of the Board of Directors of Catalonia.health. Following this, the B\u00fchler Group’s Open Innovation Program was presented, which opens new opportunities for collaboration and technological development.<\/p>\n
The Galicia Bio delegation, under the slogan “The best way in Biotechnology,” presented its projects and objectives. It comprises the Galician Regional Government (Xunta de Galicia), with representatives from the Galician Innovation Agency (Axencia Galega de Innovaci\u00f3n); the Galician Health Knowledge Agency (ACIS), Bioga, the Galician Health Cluster (CSG), XesGalicia, VIRATEC, and the Universities of Santiago de Compostela, Vigo, and A Coru\u00f1a. Also participating in this initiative are the Galician Health Research Foundation (IDIS), the Galician Biomedical Research Foundation (INIBIC), and the Galician Biomedical Research Foundation-Southern Galicia.<\/p>\n
Galicia Bio Event 2025 concluded with a networking cocktail party where the key players in the global biotechnology sector were able to meet, talk and exchange ideas with the key agents of the Galician biotech value chain, discover its potential and compare visions and ideas with representatives from the academic, business, health, investment and public administration sectors.<\/p>\n
