During her remarks, Mar\u00eda Cayuela emphasized: \u201cThis professorship reinforces our commitment to rigorous, collaborative science focused on real-world impact. At BioSmartData, we don&#8217;t work based on intuition, but on data. We understand artificial intelligence as a tool to improve medical practice, optimize outcomes, and advance toward truly personalized medicine.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Representing the UAM were F\u00e9lix Zamora Abanades, Vice-Rector for Innovation and Transfer; Carlos Aguirre Maeso, Director of the Higher Polytechnic School; the two academic directors of the Chair, Prof. Doroteo Torre Toledano and Prof. Daniel Ramos Castro, from the Department of Electronic and Communications Technology; and Roc\u00edo Schettini del Moral, General Director of the UAM Foundation, who highlighted the role of the FUAM as \u201ca facilitator of strategic alliances that reinforce the social impact of the university, as is the case with this collaboration with BioSmartData, which opens new opportunities to validate predictive models in real environments, representing a significant advance in the application of artificial intelligence in health.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The Chair&#8217;s directors agreed on the transformative nature of the project. \u201cThe UAM-BioSmartData Chair represents a university-industry collaboration opportunity to strengthen both the AUDIAS group&#8217;s research and the company&#8217;s capabilities in using technology for managing and analyzing real-world data in the healthcare sector. The AUDIAS group&#8217;s extensive experience in applying Artificial Intelligence to a wide range of problems will undoubtedly allow the company to add enormous value to its activities in areas as beneficial to society as improving chronic musculoskeletal pain, developing emerging therapies for its treatment, and promoting regenerative medicine, as well as optimizing the cost-effectiveness of therapeutic protocols in this field,\u201d Professor Torre Toledano noted. For his part, Daniel Ramos added that \u201cThe AUDIAS group has demonstrated its capabilities in using AI to solve challenges with real data, through the successful establishment of numerous collaborations with companies, both long-term and short-term, addressing significant challenges in a wide variety of application areas. This is why our expectations for the results of the Chair are very high. Furthermore, the benefits for the Autonomous University of Madrid from this collaboration are enormous, ranging from expanding its knowledge in the BioSmartData business sector to disseminating its activities among medical and biomedical engineering professionals, which opens the possibility of future synergies in research, training, and technology transfer.
